Summary
Before watching this I must admit I never heard of the band 30 Seconds to Mars, but I feel that even if you don’t know of them, you’ll find this documentary interesting. Artifact focuses on the band’s struggle with their record company as they attempt to renegotiate a contract. Stories of the general unfairness of recording contracts and industry are as old as recorded music itself, but this film does a great job of explaining how the typical recording contract is structured and how little of the profits an artist may actually see from their efforts. After seeing this you may think twice about becoming a professional musician.
